Holy Trinity finished third at the league meet. A pair of senior runners helped Holy Trinity finish third at the Nassau-Suffolk CHSAA boys cross country championships on Sunday at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park. Ernie Lustenring and Matthew O’Keefe finished 11th and 12th respectively in the 5K race. Lustenring’s time of 17 minutes, 49.30 seconds was a full 48 seconds off the winner, Michael Kiley of Chaminade. O’Keefe ran a 17:50.20. Anthony Brunetti scored five touchdowns in the title game. BY JONATHAN WALTER Second-seeded Holy Trinity beat top-seeded Stepinac, 55-7, to claim the CHSFL Class AA championship on Saturday afternoon at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale. Holy Trinity’s victorious girls tennis team. Behind the effort of its singles players, the Holy Trinity girls tennis team captured the Nassau-Suffolk CHSAA Class AA team title for the second straight season on Wednesday. The Titans edged Our Lady of Mercy Academy, 4-3, at Wang Park in Oyster Bay. Senior Jeana Frey took first singles, 8-4. Frey finished her four-year career perfect in league play, going 40-0. It was a memorable season for the Titans. The Holy Trinity girls volleyball season ended in pool play of the state CHSAA Class AA tournament on Saturday. The Titans advanced to the eight-team state tournament at St. Mary’s in upstate Lancaster. But the Titans went 2-4 in pool play. The top two finishers in each bracket advance to Sunday’s semifinals.
